A Vice Presidential Unit

Henry A. Wallace was the thirty-third vice president of the United States of America. Born January 20, 1941 in Adair County, Iowa and passed away January 20, 1945. His presidential term lasted from January 20, 1941 to January 20, 1945 serving under Franklin D. Roosevelt for his first term and Harry S. Truman for his second. Henry A. Wallace was an individual with an extensive political career ranging from vice president, secretary of agriculture and secretary of commerce. Growing up Henry was raised as a Presbyterian, but soon left the denomination, and focused more on school. Graduating from Iowa State College, early on in life he experimented with chemistry and business, wielding the two to create the first corn dog composition chart, however, leaving his corn dog days behind, he transitioned into politics, becoming the United States Secretary of agriculture within Franklin D. Roosevelt’s cabinet. It was to no surprise that Franklin D. Roosevelt selected Wallace, as he had a keen sense of business, and was quite an intelligent individual in multiple fields, one of them obviously being agriculture. His key insight led him to be the vice president in Roosevelt’s term in 1940. He was also elected Board of Economic Warfare and Supply Priorities and Allocations Board. Wallace was a very intelligent man, who spoke on a multitude of issues such as WWII, race, and economics. He was well-known for his famous speech entitled “Century of the Common Man”, which addressed all of these issues. Wallace was also well in tuned with foreign affairs, as he toured Latin America, and spoke with Russian officials regarding the war. After being vice president, Wallace attempted to run for presidency in 1948, but was ultimately a failed attempt. Henry A. Wallace was seen as a very intellectual and personable individual and was sorrowfully missed when he passed away in 1965.
